Do you have any focus areas or intentions for 2025?
My two focus areas for this year are to honor myself with more self-care and to practice non-judgment.
As part of my self-care, I have been reading about nutrition and I came upon this study from 2023.
“Everyone can benefit from maintaining healthy blood glucose levels. Brown seaweeds have been studied and Clinical Trials have found that consuming brown seaweeds can reduce glucose levels.
“High glucose levels are seen in prediabetes and diabetes, increasing the risk for heart disease, dementia, nerve damage, and kidney disease.
“Brown seaweeds can help!
Scientists have identified plant-derived ingredients and minerals that can reduce blood glucose levels and improve insulin sensitivity. Brown seaweeds help to lower fasting glucose, increase insulin sensitivity, lower HbA1c levels, and improve post-meal cognitive function.”
Information extracted from: Life Extension Magazine, August 2023 article: “Safely Manage Blood Sugar Levels”.Scientifically reviewed by Dr. Gary Gonzalez, MD and written by: Erin Davis, MS, RDN, CDCES.
I know I like feeling my brain working after eating! I would add that walking after eating is also a way I improve post-meal cognitive function.
If you’ve been reading my blog posts when I send them out, and making some of the recipes, you already know that seaweed is medicine in your meals!
*Seaweed encompasses over 20 essential vitamins and minerals;
*It is high in iodine;
*Seaweed supports thyroid health, energy and vitality;
*Seaweed is high in fucoidan, which helps to cleanse the body of heavy metals and toxins.
Now we can add that BROWN SEAWEEDS lower fasting glucose to that list!
Seaweed is truly a superfood!
