Come join the fun and take a seaside journey to the incredible, species-rich tide pools that
fringe the Pacific Coast of Mendocino! You’ll learn to identify and harvest the bountiful sea vegetables that grow along our rocky shores: Nori, Sea Palm, Kombu, Wakame, Sea Lettuce, Bladderwrack, Sweet Kombu, and Ocean Ribbons!
You will learn:
- Tips for ethical and legal foraging/harvesting
- The importance of honoring Native American territories, traditional ancestors, and the right to food and cultural resources
- Local seaweed history and songs we sing to the ocean
- Where to find different edible seaweed species in the intertidal zone
- How to easily identify tasty sea vegetables
- How to harvest safely and interact with low tides
- Nutritional values of different seaweeds
- Techniques for drying and preserving your harvest
- Delicious seaweed recipes to make and impress your friends with!

About your Teacher
Terry d’Selkie is an educator, herbalist, and gourmet vegan cook. Most importantly, she is a seaweed enthusiast and has been harvesting since 1999 on the coast of Mendocino! Terry has been leading Seaweed Foraging events since 2010.
