Hello Friends, Seaweed Lovers & Curious Wild Food Customers,
I live on unceded Pomo land in the middle of a redwood and mixed forest, next to the Big River in Mendocino County, California. I feel blessed each day to steward the land and caretake special places along the edges of the Pacific Ocean and thank those who came before me for loving this earth and living with her, in abundance. Much gratitude.
It is that time of year when I usually prepare, get in shape and gear up for harvesting and drying seaweed. Since 1999, I have been visiting the ocean between 5:00 am and 8:00 am for about 40 days each spring thru summer. When conditions allow and the ocean is willing, I have gathered 12 types of seaweeds from the same rocky shores of the Pacific Ocean in Mendocino County for the past 25 years. It is one of the greatest gifts and the most honored privileges I have had in this lifetime, in this place in space I call home.

Ocean Harvest has been built over these past 45 years to providenutritious super-foods to people all over the country, by practicing environmentally friendly hand harvesting and sun drying, while honoring and respecting the native peoples of this area.
I have truly loved everything about harvesting seaweed; from the early morning quiet with just waves and bird calls as a joyous noise; to the surprises at the ocean’s edge (once an octopus); to the rugged walks up and down cliffs and getting to know the same salty and sometimes slippery terrain over the past 25 years.
