Seaweed foraging this Summer!

Terry on Seaweed Safari
Dear Seaweed Lovers: we’re excited to have you join us for a seaweed foraging adventure on the Mendocino coast.
Our foraging adventure is limited to 15 people.

Scroll down to the bottom of this page to reserve your spot.

On our trips we learn, discover, enjoy, and engage in:
  • Identifying different edible sea vegetables and learning about their health benefits.
  • Learning about ethical and sustainable harvesting and drying techniques, as you harvest and pack up your seaweeds to dry at home.
  • Tasting several types of seaweeds and a couple of dishes you can make at home – recipes included!
  • Understanding how to protect traditional gathering sites and cultural resources.

Why so early in the morning? Well, it’s all about when the tides are low!

Once you sign up, we’ll email you more details, included directions to the assembly site. Please check your calendar twice before signing up; we are unable to issue refunds.

We welcome nimble adults (our gathering sites require a bit of clambering up and down rocks and coastal trails) and conscientious children above the age of ten.

Remember to wear waterproof boots! A mesh bag is helpful, too.

SUNDAY • JUNE 27th • 7:00AM

In addition to taking home your raw, wet-harvested seaweed, each participant will receive a set of three dried seaweed packets plus a seaweed recipe binder. Non-refundable. You are welcome to gift your spot to another person if you are unable to make the session.
